DAY 1: Abraham and Lot: Family Ties: Genesis 14
Here is some background on what's going on, Abram is Lot's uncle and they are good friends. They got into a Tiff in Chapter 13: 7-9. All friendships go through their tough tense time it is the circle of life and is natural! Sometimes the best way to keep a friendship tight is to just give each other space...
I know for me personally a lot of my close friends from high school and I are even closer now that we have gone our separate ways. Sometimes we just need a breather, and that is what Abram and Lot did, Lot actually moved away.
Let's look more specifically at Chapter 14:14-16...
A good friend is there when you need her. When you are sad, she hugs you and lets you cry. When you fail, you know that she loves you anyway. And when you're in trouble, she runs to help without caring that it costs her time and energy. As soon as Abram found out about Lot's capture he jumped into action. Abram did not wait to see if someone else would save Lot, and he did not care if he had to risk his own life.
Even though they were in their, "give me some breathing room" time, Abram still saved Lot.
It is encouraging for me to know that we have friends that will be there for us, it is also a reminder of God's Love for us. God's love for us is Unconditional, and unlike our love for each other, it is not based on feelings or emotions. He doesn't love us because we're lovable or because we make him feel good; He loves us because He is love. He created us to have a loving relationship with him, and He sacrificed His own Son, Jesus, to restore that relationship.
Have a great day!
