DAY 2: Abraham and Lot's family: Pleading for Compassion

Abraham and Lot

In this scene we see Abraham interceding for Sodom, he is not aware of the nature of the Sodomites, and has a constant plea with God and makes the number of needed believers go from 50, to 45, to 40, to 30, 20, 10.... throughout it all, God is patient, loving, and keeps his promise

For those of you who don't know, Sodom and Gomorrah was a notoriously sinful city in the old the Old Testament, knowing that there was so much sin, it makes me wonder how Abraham was expecting 10-50 people to be righteous in the country. Here's what I think, Abraham is speaking of those who are righteous by their faith in Christ. I think that when Lot and his two daughters were the only ones who escaped.  All of those who failed to escape (Lot's son-in-laws and wife) who turned into pillars of salt, were examples of those who are unrighteous- those who did not look to God but looked back onto the city which they cherished.

Abraham's love for Lot is what motivated him to plea for Sodom. This was a learning experience for both Abraham and all of us. Many of us have the same struggle as Abraham.... We wrestle with how God handles the world. And like Lot, when we are helpless, God hears our cry and comes to our defense... His desire is for us to heed his loving instruction and pass it along to all generations, just like Abraham.

What are your thoughts?

Have a good one!
